The Main Epoch of Metal Production in the Universe
نویسنده
چکیده
Clusters of galaxies allow a direct estimate of the metallicity and metal production yield on the largest scale so far. It is argued that cluster metallicity (∼ 1/3 solar) should be taken as representative of the low-z universe as a whole. There is now compelling evidence that the bulk of stars not only in cluster ellipticals but also in field ellipticals and bulges formed at high redshifts (z > ∼ 3). Since such stars account for at least ∼ 30% of the baryons now locked into stars, it is argued that at least 30% of stars and metals formed before z ≃ 3, and correspondingly the metallicity of the universe at z = 3 is predicted to be ∼ 1/10 solar.

A meshless discrete Galerkin method for solving the universe evolution differential equations based on the moving least squares approximation
In terms of observational data, there are some problems in the standard Big Bang cosmological model. Inflation era, early accelerated phase of the evolution of the universe, can successfully solve these problems. The inflation epoch can be explained by scalar inflaton field. The evolution of this field is presented by a non-linear differential equation. This equation is considered in FLRW model...
متن کاملRole of Clusters of Galaxies in the Evolution of the Metal Budget in the Universe
Using the guidelines on SN element production provided by XMM-Newton, we summarize the results of ASCA observations on the element abundance in groups and clusters of galaxies. We show that while the metal production in groups could be described by a stellar population with a standard local IMF, clusters of galaxies require a more top-heavy IMF. We attribute an excess heavy element production t...
متن کاملZero-Metallicity Stars and the Effects of the First Stars on Reionization.
We present stellar structure and atmosphere models of metal-free stars and examine them from a cosmological point of view. Metal-free stars exhibit high effective temperatures and small sizes relative to metal-enriched stars of equal mass. These unique physical characteristics enhance the ionizing photon production by metal-free stars, particularly in the He ii (hnu>/=4 ryd) continuum. The star...
متن کاملEffect of single additive bivalent metal ions on the growth of Streptomyces clavuligerus and clavulanic acid production
Metal ions are the main impurities of water and media ingredients used in fermentation processes. In this research, the effect of Ca+2, Co+2, Cu+2, Fe+2, Mg+2, Mn+2 and Zn+2 as chloride and sulfate salts was studied on the clavulanic acid production and Streptomyces clavuligerus growth. All chloride salts had negative effect on clavulanic acid production and no clavulanic acid was produced in t...
متن کاملObservations of Groups and Clusters – A Relic of the High Redshift Universe Richard
I review the evidence from clusters and groups of galaxies for 'relic' evidence of the high redshift universe. Contrary to the received wisdom, clusters are old. Their x-ray emitting intergalactic medium in massive clusters is a reservoir of metal and energy injection from the main epoch of star formation. There are strong indications that non-gravitational energy was extremely important in the...
